STEP (Safe Transitions for Effective Progress) is a voluntary peer support group where men can discuss mental health and life’s challenges, such as depression, anxiety, stress, identity loss, suicide ideation, and shame.

At STEP, men feel heard and validate each other’s emotions. To find useful solutions, members focus on their healing more than their pain. Men are accountable for their actions and remind each other that they are responsible for becoming a better version of themselves.

At weekly meetings, group members explore the deeper dynamics of self insightfulness to better understand healthy ways to improve themselves. By looking inward, men learn to solve the problems they are facing. Men are given the opportunity to navigate their thoughts and feelings in the present and focus on how their past has impacted them. Then, they can examine how changing the present can produce better outcomes in the future.

The group setting reminds members that they are never alone and allows them to provide useful feedback to one another. By talking through their problems, members can establish practical solutions and improve their personal wellbeing.

STEP is a safe place to share openly. Men respect each other’s privacy by keeping all discussions confidential.

STEP believes every man can improve his mental health. Men that prioritize their mental health can contribute better to their families and communities.

STEP is currently an online support program held Tuesday evenings
