The Alberta Suicide Prevention Community of Practice (CoP) was established in 2013 to bring together individuals and organizations from across the province who are involved in suicide prevention activities and initiatives. Co-led by AHS Provincial Injury Prevention and Lethbridge Family Services, CoP meetings are hosted quarterly via Zoom. The CoP aims to create collaborative learning opportunities, increase stakeholder’s knowledge about suicide prevention across Alberta, and strengthen partnerships and connections between those working in suicide prevention.

Meeting topics are often suggested by members during an annual survey. Past topics have included COVID-19 and the impact on suicide in Alberta, Men’s Mental Health and the Buddy Up Campaign, World Suicide Prevention Day, and Suicide Prevention Councils.

CoP members appreciate the opportunity to meet and discuss current issues and trends related to suicide, as well as learning about the different work happening across the province.
